Elaine — Registered Dental Hygienist

I’ve lived in the Tully area most of my life and graduated from OCC’s Dental Hygiene program in 1975. I enjoy the patient interaction I experience as a dental hygienist. Joining Dr. Stannard’s practice in 1990 has allowed me to witness the rapid changes in dentistry and the specialty of prosthodontics. Dr. Stannard’s continual investment and forward movement in the areas of technology and implants has given me the opportunity to keep growing and learning. It has made for an exciting and interesting journey.

Family is very important to me, I am the oldest of six children and we still get together for a week every summer and camp in the Adirondacks. I am married with three daughters; two are married, the youngest is still in school. My hobbies are sewing, quilting, and cooking but lately they have been replaced by spending as much time as I can with my four beautiful grandsons.

LouAnn— Registered Dental Hygienist

I attended SUNY Canton graduating with my Associate degree in Applied Science/ Dental Hygiene in 2008.  I am licensed to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia. Since graduating, I have practiced in various specialties to achieve a vast knowledge in patient care.  I’ve performed in office specific to prosthodontics, periodontology, pediatrics and general dentistry.

I enjoy building a friendly rapport with my patients.  My patients’ comfort is a primary concern as too many people have had poor experiences in the dental chair.  I strive to change a patient’s perception and decrease dental anxiety. When a patient is comfortable, they can mindfully understand their individual oral health care needs and incorporate that into their daily oral care management.

Dr. Stannard offers superior preventative, cosmetic and restorative treatment.  Over the course of my career, I have rarely observed this caliber of dental performance.  The precision and exceptional knowledge Dr. Stannard displays is truly fascinating. Joining his practice has kept me continuously engaged and given me the tenacity to develop further.  The degree of advanced technology I have the opportunity of using at Specialized Dentistry motivates me to educate my patients and provide them with optimal care.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends and traveling.

Emmy— Dental Assistant

Growing up on Cape Cod, I lived and worked at the beach each summer. I started my dental career in 2010.

After graduating from the dental assisting program at Cape Cod Tech. I was offered a job working for an oral surgeon/ general dentist upon completion of my internship with him. I soaked in everything I possibly could. I went to continuing educational courses, like the Yankee Dental Conference, every chance I had year after year.

After five years I decided to make a life change and moved to Upstate New York. I began to work for a dentist who was not only a general dentist but an oral surgeon. I quickly became his lead assistant and office manager. In April, I decided to make another move and came to Syracuse.

I have learned so much in the short time I’ve been here. One of the many things I love about this job is there is always more to learn! Another is that I love my interactions with patient. I strive to make every patient feel comfortable and safe coming in to our office. I’ve built quite a rapport with many patients and look forward to many more.

Alissa— Scheduling Coordinator

Originally from Boston, Mass. I moved to Syracuse with my Husband in 2011. I graduated from the Liverpool BOCES Dental Assisting program in 2015. Upon completing my internship in Liverpool, I was offered the position and my dental assisting career began. During my time there I trained with Nitrous Oxide and IV Sedation monitoring.

In 2016, I accepted a position with a general dentist closer to my home in Fayetteville. At this fast-paced office, I was trained in the latest digital dental technology.

February 2018, I took a brief hiatus from the dental world to pursue training to become a Certified Yoga instructor. This led me to Puerto Rico and Costa Rica, something I had worked towards for 11 years.

Upon my return, I was hired here at Specialized Dentistry for the front office, although you may find me in the back helping our clinical team. I am always eager to learn and working here gives lots of opportunities to do so.

In my free time, I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga as well as spending as much time outside in nature with family and friends & my dogs. I also enjoy hiking, camping and traveling when I can.
